“Rock,
Paper, Scissors: Game Theory in Everyday Life” is a book written by Len Fisher
about game theory and how it connects to everyday situations. Game theory is
about the strategies that we use every day in our interactions with other
people.
The
author talked about different strategies, samples, and dilemmas. The book was
really interesting to read. Fisher enumerated some samples and I can’t help but
relate and sometimes I imagine myself in some situations. When I reached
chapter three, wherein Fisher discusses the seven deadly dilemmas, I was amazed
because I have experienced those dilemmas but I never thought that there was a
name for them. And then the author suddenly pointed out that all of these
dilemmas are the same dilemma. Then, I laughed at myself because he’s right and
I didn’t notice. (lol)
I
had fun while reading the book. The author’s approach was light that it’s easy
to understand. You can learn a lot and understand game theory more. Plus, he
added some narratives, jokes, and trivias too. I never imagined George
Washington playing rock, paper, scissors just because they can’t decide on who
should leave first. I also thought that if Fisher and I were born in the same
generation, we’d be great friends.
