I usually think Mathematics just part of the curriculum, never gotten interest in it and no offense to math geeks but I find it somehow boring. It was said in the first part of the book that there are lots of things to learn, discover and appreciate math that can acquire beside what we learn in the class. With that thought I agree to it, there are so much math in the world that we never realize its already math. State for a example the puzzle game (logic, geometric, numerical, probability, puzzles) that can help our brain to think more (it exercise the brain) but still enjoying it and having fun with it.
One of the factor to become a scientist is to have curiosity, it is same as to be a mathematician or anything you wanted to become. In order for ones person to learn more he/she should be curious and believing in yourself. The quote from above said it all which said by the author which really give us courage to try.
Ian Stewart was a great author trying to make Math simple and interesting towards the people who love math, less love math and nobody cares math. It likes he wanted to make or convince people to do math. It just like his other book titled “The Mathematics of Life” making us to love and appreciate math more cause there is much more math than math we learn in class. And like Ian Stewart said “One of the virtues of knowing a bit of math is that you can impress the hell out of your friends.”
