Pirates of Silicon Valley Movie Review

The movie entitled Pirates of Silicon Valley was about how the computer industry came into being and became what it is today. It was a story between the two big names in the computer industry the late Steve Jobs together with Steve Wozniak against Bill Gates the richest, if not, one of the richest man in the world. The film portrays the rivalry between these two guys, along with Apple and Microsoft respectively, as they try to dominate the market with their ingenious ideas and at the same time slowly molding the computer industry.
The film showed the story of Steve Jobs from a youngster who had aspirations to be somebody by pairing up with Steve Wozniak who was able to create an “ancient” computer all by himself. The duo proved to be a hit since Wozniak had the idea while Jobs had the ability to persuade and sway the people around him to believe that this computer is something that will change the world. The thing I did like in this movie was that they were able to portray the real Steve Jobs, the one who got her lover pregnant and then severed all ties with her afraid to take responsibilities of his action, the one who yells at someone so negatively and offensively, or in other words a self-centered guy who thinks that he is above everyone else.
Another side of the story in this film was about Bill Gates, who started having the same interest with the two Steves. In the story of Gates we can see how he cunningly built Microsoft from working with some established institute way back. As what I can comprehend in the film Bill Gates doesn’t have the originality unlike the two Steves since he only bought the software which he along with his colleagues presented to IBM. He was also able to subdue his rival in the industry by confronting Steve Jobs directly and persuade him to come to his terms. Steve Jobs then saw this as an opportunity for possible partnership which is actually the opposite as what Gates had in mind.
The cunning attitude of Bill Gates was what enabled himself to rise in the competition he had against Steve Jobs, as supported by the fact that Microsoft now own a share in Apple. A good thing about Steve Jobs was that he was able to make up for his past by acknowledging his daughter Lisa, which by the way the name of the one of the computer models that Apple released in the market.
You might wonder where Steve Wozniak in the whole scene right? Well he was with Steve Jobs but what’s more interesting in this movie was the fact that it seemed like Steve Wozniak was the one telling the story between two computer nerds battling out for supremacy in the market but didn’t really get involved that much in the midst of the “war“. This was further confirmed at the last part of the story where a short epilogue about what happened to the lives of Jobs and Gates .
