Narrative Report
(Number System)
The
aim of this paper is to give a narrative account on our group reporting/ presentation
as well as the development and the application of our group plans which took
place last 15th and 17th-day of January. Our group was given the task to report
on one of the most interesting topics in Math 1 - the Number Systems. A week
before the reporting, ma'am Cielo gave us the outline of the activities to be
included in the presentation/reporting. She divided the content of the report in
three parts: the game, debate about latest issues on number systems and
finally, a 30-minute creative presentation. After receiving those instructions
we immediately set-up dates to discuss and work on our reporting plans.
Two
days before the reporting, our group meet-up, discussed and made plans. We first
planned for the games. After hours of brainstorming, we finally came up with
five interesting, mind-sweeping and absolutely mentally and a bit physically
stressful games. These games were titled: Sudoku, Binary message decoding,
Block counting, Bring me and mixed number system decoding, all assigned to five
game stations separately. Each member of our group was assigned to facilitate
and provide the necessary materials for each assigned game. Denzelle worked on
Sudoku, Tiu on Bring me and Block counting, Girlie on Binary message decoding
and I on mixed number system decoding. Due to predicted rainfall on Friday of
that week, we've been forced to facilitate the game on Wednesday the same week.
Moments before the start of the game, I stood timidly by the side of the tree
waiting for the teacher and our classmates to come, a couple of minutes later,
suddenly our classmates came rushing onto the first station which signaled the
start of the game. The game ended with the Stat group as the winner.
The
second part of our plan was about the 30-minute creative presentation and
debate. From the long list of options, we decided to do a game show titled
"Celebrity Bluff", a show where I took the role of "Jessica
Suho". Denzelle, Girlie and I prepared 5 questions and a PowerPoint
presentation each, of course those are all facts and bluffs about number systems.
As for
the debate, we actually planned a radio show on which some issues about numbers
and number systems were openly discussed. These topics were: "What is the
world's favorite number? And "Who first invented the number system?".
Tiu and Girlie were the radio hosts while I and Denzelle were the guests. I am
happy that we made the whole presentation fun; we made our classmates laugh and
in the same way, filled their heads with some facts. Every member of our group
worked hard to complete the tasks given to us.
